Welcome to myBEonline! We’re glad to have you as part of our community. My name is Peter and I’m one of the moderators here. I just wanted to give you some tips on how to get the most out of your experience with myBEonline. • Upload an avatar on your profile page. Having a picture of yourself with your profile helps everyone recognize you. • Introduce yourself by posting an update to your profile. You can post an update here: http://mybeonline.com/activity/ Here's a few ideas on what to write: Where are you from? What do you do for work? What hobbies do you enjoy? How do you use business English? • Look at some other members’ profiles and send friend requests to those that interest you. This will help you connect with others and increase your interactions. • If you would like to find a practice partner, I recommend our Study Buddies group: http://mybeonline.com/groups/bep-study-buddies/ There, you can connect with 500 other business English learners. Some partners practice with email, IM, and Skype. Post what you’d like to work on (for example, vocabulary, language for meetings, etc.). Or, contact another Study Buddy and see if you and that person can practice together. • Ask and answer questions on our Q&A site: http://answers.mybeonline.com/questions/ • Earn points (Buddy Bucks) and win Business English Pod eBooks and even membership. You earn points for each activity you do on myBEonline, such as posting an update, adding a friend, commenting on a Skills 360 page. You can see a record of the points you've earned on your profile. We hope you’ll enjoy the time you spend on myBEonline. If there is anything we can do to make your experience better, just let us know! Peter (Admin) Business English Pod & myBEonline Close

Hi everyone. Hope you all are doing good .
As we all here to hone our skills in english , so it’s a must thing to work above and beyond the call of duty. If we discuss our learned lessons here, we can enhance our knowlege without any extra efforts. So let’s start with the chapter Tips for successful presentation-1

Presentation is something that converts gads of information into attractive frame. We normally dread of cutting the information for presentation. We should use a simple mneumenic “KISSER” means keep it short, simple, engaging and real. So that the audience need not plug their ears. We must keep this fact in mind that our presentation should get the picture of what we really want to convey.

@admin @massimo @adheeth @yatin @joannemason Please read my message and then discuss along with it. I also want to ask what is real meaning of “kick off” . It relates to starting of something or ending of something ?

Obviously ‘kick off’ means ‘begin’ just as said in the football game!

People get sick of presentations that are neither interesting nor informative and as a result you fall flat. so if you want to wow the audience, tighten up
your presentation and customize, thereby making it compatible.

I want to summarize the mnemonic device KISSER by inclusion of appropriate phrases used in the lesson.

SHORT- Cut out the fluffs so that only your central message remain. At the beginning of presentation, outline the topic and frame questions which may make
the audience eager to figure out the answers.

SIMPLE- Keep only the essential information. Avoid technical lingo. Text on your slides must be kept not less than 30-point font for easy view.

ENGAGING- For impact presentations- repetition, rhetorical questions, metaphors and visualizing facts and figures are inevitable. Don’t overwhelm your
audience by information overload. Mix up slides as putting a picture after an informational slide. Be interactive. Let the audience speakout and interrogate
    you.

REAL- Use an anecdote at the start to connect with the people. Talk about the importance of your topic and how much it affects them. Work within your
    abilities.

The KISSER approach is very helpful, but it happens as we convert gads of information to informative stuff. My problem with presentation is I can’t come up with a good topic. I am in an english club and making presentation has become a routine among us as a way of practicing english. Everytime when it comes to my turn, i will waste a lot of time on choosing the topic and collecting information. As to this kind of free speech, is there any site abounding of speech topics.

    @Fang
You should not be sad at this. Just click on skill 360 at the top of the screen and you will find many lessons there. Actually we don’t find apt words usually , so we need to jog our memory for the new style of presentation. But if learn more and more new words and also get familier with them , then we can easily improve our presentation a lot.
    Good luck :-)
